On November 30, 2022, in Baghdad, the capital, Peace and Freedom Organization conducted a dialogue session within Hiwar project, in coordination with Hiwar partners from the governorates of (Salah al-Din, Baghdad, Kirkuk, Sulaymaniyah, Dohuk, Halabja, and Erbil). Alwan Organization for Cultural Development, Insan Association for Iraqi Relief and Development, We Are the Peace Organization for Voluntary Work, Bridges Organization for Humanitarian Aid, 3W, ROPD and Alternative Network.


The event was in coordination with the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq and representatives of the relevant government departments of youth, sports, environment, municipalities and oil from the different provinces.


The conferees discussed the reality of community participation, youth and civil society in efforts to enhance the role of society in the process of building peace, maintaining security and climate change processes, and the importance of paying attention to environmental rights. In addition to presenting the activities of each organization during the previous period within the Hiwar project.


During the discussions between civil society and the concerned authorities, a set of recommendations were raised regarding the promotion of environmental rights and ways to involve society in the process of developing national plans to confront the negative effects of climate change, and the importance of developing a national plan to implement the agenda of Security Council Resolution 2250 regarding activating the role of youth in peacebuilding and decision-making process.


This activity was implemented by the Peace and Freedom Organization in partnership with (Alternative Network , Alwan Organization for Cultural Development, Insan Association for Iraqi Relief and Development, We Are the Peace Organization for Voluntary Work, Bridges Organization for Humanitarian Aid, 3W, and ROPD) within the framework of the (Dialogue project) Hiwar project, which is carried out in cooperation with UPP The UNDP is supported by the Iraqi government and funded by the European Union.
