In the beginning the visit was to old city Ur to its great Ziggurat which was built by King Ur-Nammu, who dedicated it in honor of Nanna/Sîn during the Third Dynasty of Ur
The ziggurat was a piece in a temple complex that served as an administrative center for the city, and which was a shrine of the moon god Nanna.
Then the youth visit the Royal Cemetery at Ur which contain 16 royal graves, constructed from adobe and bricks. And in every grave, there was a well. When the king dies, he buried his maidservants with their clothes and jewelry after killing them with poison to service him after death. The cemetery had a structure topped by a dome.
Then a visit to temple (Dib Lal Mach) which was from the important temples because of it was the first court in the history, where king Ur-Nammu implement his laws.
Where the tourist guide was with the youth whom explain the city and its religious important at that time.
After leaving Ur city, the youth went to the Nasiriyah Museum, which is the second largest museum in Iraq, as it contains many antique pieces (from prehistoric times to the Islamic era).
The museum director was accompanying the team and explaining about the pieces in the museum, and at the end of the visit he presented souvenirs to the youth.
Ur is considered a place of pilgrimage for the Abrahamic religions, because it is considered the birthplace of Abraham, the father of the prophets, especially after Pope Francis (Pope Vatican) visited the city of Ur in March 2021, where he held an interfaith meeting there.
