Within the framework of the project " Working conditions and the development of interventions at the farm level in the agricultural sector in Iraq"
The second two-day workshop on "Capacity building for social partners in resolving labor disputes" in Duhok on 20/06/2022 was successfully completed. The first workshop of the same activity was successfully held in Basra in early June.
The importance of this workshop is not limited to the framework of a specific project, but also the consequences of another achievement on all efforts made both legally, awareness and organizationally to provide and play a role in improving the laws related to the resolution of labor disputes through the joint work of civil society organizations and trade unions and the cooperation of official agencies of both the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government.
This important activity began with the preparation of an academic/legal study prepared by Peace and Freedom Organization, then approved by ILO as a draft for development and enrichment, then it went to another stepby the participation of participants in both activities in Basra and Duhok on adding more information, barriers and opportunities to benefit from both the 1987 and 2015 Labor Laws, especially on the process and mechanisms for filing and completing legal claims related to labor disputes.
The success factors of both workshops apart from the content of the topic are: the seriousness of Peace and Freedom Organization at the highest administrative level to promote this topic inside and outside the project itself, as well as the support of the project coordinators and managers from ILO, in terms of field presence and follow-up to carry out this activity.
It is worth mentioning that this project started in December 2021 in partnership with the International Labor Organization with the support of the European Union.
