Peace and Freedom Organization(PFO) , in collaboration with the Norwegian People's Aid (NPA), organized a training session within the "Promote Workers' Rights" project entitled (youth and women Participation in trade union organization). It lasted two days from August 20 to 21, 2022.


25 activists from all of Iraq's governorates attended the training program, representing numerous volunteer teams, civil society organizations, and independent activists.


The two-day workshop focused on union empowerment and union regulations, and the training consisted of interactive dialogue sessions and organized work groups that explained a set of fundamental concepts and issues, local and international legal frameworks for organizing union work, and the fundamental principles of union organization work. And discuss the mechanism for union representatives to monitor the implementation of laws in the workplace, as well as how to attract young people to work in the union organization. Additionally, discuss the concept and principles of the union work mechanism, as well as the problems workers face due to violations of their rights.

 

The participants praised the workshop in terms of the topics that were raised and discussed, and they emphasized the importance of continuing to raise awareness to strengthen trade union work to increase and develop the role of youth in the process of union organization, as well as focusing on the role of unions in implementing laws to protect workers' rights.
