Within the framework of the project (Cultural heritage to revise tourist in Nineveh plains project) and with the support of the German Organization (GIZ), a three-day training was successfully completed under the title (Consultants and Guides in the Tourism) for (20) participants from the Nineveh Plain in the city of Erbil from March 30 to April 01, 2023.


The main objective of this training was to prepare a group of active young people who can play the role of advisors and tour guides in the Nineveh Plains for local and foreign guests during the tourist seasons as well as in normal days.


The materials and trainers were prepared and selected in a manner consistent with the main objective of the project which is to promote and revive the tourism and culture sector in the Nineveh Plain to serve peace and coexistence in the area.


The participants were introduced to several tools and methods of work, and many previous field experiences were presented to compare correct and incorrect work methods in the field of tourist guidance.


In addition, they were introduced to many of the following theoretical and legal issues:
• Linking cultural heritage, tourism and peace.
• Legal protection for the work of the tour guide
• The impact of political geography in Iraq on the work of tour guides
• Black tourism (concept and purpose)
