
The Peace and Freedom Organization, with the support of Cordaid Iraq, organized a series of discussion sessions within the “Women’s Voices First” project in six Iraqi governorates. These sessions aim to complete comprehensive research on the status of women and their role in society.
The sessions began on September 14 in Kirkuk Governorate and focused on “the role of women in political decision-making.” The next day, a session was held on September 15 in Baghdad Governorate to discuss “the social obstacles facing women to participate in the electoral process.”
The Mosul Governorate session, which was held on September 16, addressed the topic “Women of Nineveh after the conflict and ways to enhance their role.” On September 18, a session was held in Dohuk Governorate to discuss “the reality of women in tribal societies.”
On September 19, the Basra Governorate session discussed the issue of “Violence against girls in the digital space.” The sessions concluded on September 25 with a session in Erbil Governorate on “Women’s Participation in Political Media.”
These sessions aim to produce six reports and six analytical research that present the current reality in each governorate. The recommendations and results of this research will be presented with the aim of enhancing and deepening our understanding of reality and empowering women in Iraqi society.
