On Nov 25, 2023, Peace and Freedom Organization in Jalawla district - Diyala held a dialogue session between tribal leaders, sheikhs, and religion men in Jalawla district in order to discuss the obstacles of safe return and the most important problems facing the host community and returnees to build a cohesive society and knowing about their suggestion for community initiatives and solutions from the problems for improve the situation in the city.


The participants focused on the issue of compensation, the complexity of its procedures, and the small amount of it; compared to the extent of the damage to real estate and property. They also mentioned the lack of job opportunities for young people, the reason for the weak economic situation of returning families, which caused a portion of young people not to return.


This session was implemented within the project to Building peace and Stability in Iraq, in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and with support from FCDO.
