Under the oversight of the Governor of Erbil and the department of NGOs in the Kurdistan Region, the Peace and Freedom Organization-PFO, in collaboration with the Spanish organization Novact and a distinguished delegation from the Catalan Region, organized an international conference encompassing youth, universities, civil society, and peace.

Convened on December 12, 2023, in Erbil, the conference saw the participation of key figures such as the Governor of Erbil, the Head of the department of NGOs of the Kurdistan Region, Regvant Ura, Member of Parliament Mr. Marc Barbasic, Political Advisor in the Catalan Parliament, Luca Gervasson, the director of Novact, and officials from sports, education, and civil society organizations in the Catalan region. Additionally, over 150 attendees represented government institutions in the Kurdistan Region, local and international organizations, researchers, youth from various cities in the Kurdistan Region, and several media outlets.

The conference's core objective was to foster the exchange of insights between the Catalan Region and the Kurdistan Region across peace, youth engagement, sports, academic institutions, and the endeavors of civil society organizations. Beyond speeches by representatives of the Peace and Freedom Organization, the Head of the department of NGOs, the Governor of Erbil, and the Novact and Catalan delegation, the conference featured three panels. The first panel focused on sharing the Catalan region's experiences in youth, civil society, and peace.

The second panel addressed the Kurdistan region's experiences in these realms. The third panel highlighted the results and success stories of the ASITI project implemented by FAS in Catalonia, Peace and Freedom, and UPP in the Kurdistan Region (DOZ in Syrian Kurdistan and IDARE in Jordan).
