On July 6-8, 2024, Peace and Freedom Organization conducted a workshop in the presence of representatives from the Iraqi Prime Minister office, Engineer Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, alongside young men and women from all over Iraq. This workshop is part of the ongoing efforts of Peace and Freedom Organization to support and enhance the role of youth in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in peacebuilding and decision-making processes.

The workshop, held for three consecutive days, focused on building the capacities of youth on effective advocacy mechanisms and strategies to activate and implement UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on youth, peace, and security in Iraq.

Additionally, the training workshop included discussion sessions in which young men and women from different provinces participated, where they presented their ideas and highlighted their needs to translate them into recommendations and real steps towards solutions and ways to improve the situation of youth in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

All of this comes within the general framework of the project, which aims to develop a comprehensive national plan that adopts the agenda of Resolution 2250 and its five pillars.

It is worth mentioning that this project is being implemented in high cooperation and coordination with the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Region Government, as they have expressed their full support to assist the young people, who constitute 68% of Iraq's population.

This workshop comes within the project “Promoting Youth Engagement in Peace Building and Security” which is implemented by Peace and Freedom Organization in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) and with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
