On 7/9/2024, in cooperation with the Nineveh Provincial Council, the Peace and Freedom Organization organized a conference entitled (Promoting Human Rights in Nineveh: Responsive and Effective Government Institutions), in the presence of a large number of members of the Nineveh Provincial Council and the Human Rights Commission, and the presence of the governorate office, and directors. Government departments in Nineveh, in addition to tribal sheikhs and community leaders.

 

The conference aimed to discuss the results and proposals presented by the Peace and Freedom Organization to the local government, in a report on which the Voices of Justice Network conducted more than 150 interviews and conducted work with government departments in the previous months.

 

The report conveys the voices of citizens, male and female, to decision-makers. It was discussed at the conference, and the Nineveh Provincial Council promised to adopt the report of the Peace and Freedom Organization as a working paper for the Provincial Council.


A number of department directors also promised to adopt and implement some recommendations.

 

This conference came as part of an advocacy campaign carried out by the Voices of Justice Network and with the support of the Peace and Freedom Organization, in the Power of Voices project implemented in partnership with the PAX organization.
