As part of the Peaceful Coexistence Initiative, the Humanitarian Relief Association for Turkmen Women in Iraq organized the final festival of their initiative on October 24, 2024, as part of the PGM-JISRA activities, which brought together various groups from Kirkuk province in a day full of diversity and unity.
The festival witnessed wide attendance from all religions, ethnicities, and ages, emphasizing the initiative's message of enhancing social cohesion and promoting a culture of peace.
The festival opened with the distribution of brochures bearing the initiative's name and objectives, helping attendees understand the overall message of the initiative and its future goals. Participants in the coexistence program and course were honored, with certificates of completion awarded in recognition of their contributions to promoting peaceful coexistence.
The festival featured folkloric fashion shows that reflected the cultural and religious diversity of the province, where participants wore traditional clothing expressing their different cultural identities. The festival's activities also included poetry segments in multiple languages, embodying the depth of cultural blending and the spirit of brotherhood among attendees.
At the conclusion of the festival, an initiative was launched to collect signatures and fingerprints from attendees on the "Pledge for Peaceful Coexistence" mural, where participants signed a large mural pledging their commitment to the spirit of peace and religious coexistence. These fingerprints will remain a symbol of maintaining the spirit of harmony in Kirkuk and a reaffirmation of the importance of enhancing coexistence among community members of various backgrounds.
is worth mentioning that this activity was organized by the Humanitarian Relief Association for Turkmen Women in Iraq in partnership with Peace and Freedom Organization and under the Participatory Grant-Making in JISRA (PGM in JISRA).
