In partnership with Women for Women International, Peace and Freedom Organization successfully organized a two-day training in Mosul. The training brought together 12 women, including media professionals, journalists, activists, and young graduates from media departments.
On the first day of the training, held on 21/1/2025, several important topics were discussed with the participants. The sessions began with an introductory explanation of how to adopt a human rights perspective in media, addressing the impact of hate speech directed at women in the media landscape. This was conducted through debates and discussions on women’s issues and the media’s role in shedding light on them. Additionally, stereotypes that contribute to marginalizing women in media content were reviewed and analyzed.
On the second day of the training, 22/1/2025, the focus shifted to essential topics, including news reporting, journalism fundamentals and writing techniques, journalistic reports and articles, practical exercises, storytelling and its types, the basics of story writing, story structure, and its elements. The training enhanced the young participants’ knowledge in media and journalism and developed their leadership skills, enabling them to take on more effective and positive roles in their communities.
This activity is part of the Women and Peace project, implemented by the Peace and Freedom Organization in partnership with Women for Women International and generously funded by the United Kingdom International Support Fund (UKISF).
