Under the auspices of the Peace and Freedom Organization, within the Al-JISRA Project, and in partnership with the Search for Common Ground Organization, the Peaceful Coexistence commission in Al-Shekhan District was inaugurated on February 6, 2025 under the slogan "Let us all work together to build sustainable peace in Al-Shekhan District and its outskirts."
The opening conference was attended by prominent figures from the local government, members of the Religious Council, and representatives of civil society organizations, in addition to volunteer teams from various areas of Al-Shekhan, Alqosh, Mosul, Nineveh Plain, Kirkuk, and Sinjar.
The commission is an independent entity that aims to consolidate the values of peaceful coexistence between religions and promote dialogue and mutual understanding in Al-Shekhan District, which contributes to building a more harmonious and diverse society.
