As part of its ongoing efforts to empower journalists and media school students from universities and institutes, Peace and Freedom Organization (PFO), with the financial support of the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil, successfully conducted its third specialized training session on countering disinformation generated by artificial intelligence (AI). The session was held in Erbil from February 20 to 22, 2025, and brought together 25 journalists and media students (both male and female) from various cities and twons across the Kurdistan Region and Kirkuk Province.

The primary objective of the session was to build the capacity of journalists and media students, equipping them with the necessary skills to effectively identify and counteract AI-Generated Disinformation. Participants were prepared to actively engage in campaigns aimed at addressing these growing challenges.

During the session, a representative from the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil participated and held in-depth discussions with attendees. The representative emphasized the critical importance of such training programs and reaffirmed the commitment to collaborating with local partners in the Kurdistan Region.

This training session is part of a broader series of activities under the project "Counteracting Disinformation Generated by Artificial Intelligence," implemented by the Peace and Freedom Organization in the Kurdistan Region and Kirkuk Province.
