With financial support of the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil, Peace and Freedom Organization-PFO successfully organized a training session on AI-generated disinformation. The training, which took place in Erbil on July 24–25, 2025, brought together 15 social media influencers, both male and female, from across the Kurdistan Region and Kirkuk.
The event intended to build the capacities of social media influencers and foster coordination to counter AI-generated disinformation through raising-awareness campaigns on social media platforms.
In addition to in-depth discussions between participants, trainers, and organizers, a number of media contents related to AI-generated disinformation were produced and posted on the participants’ personal social media accounts.
As part of the training, a representative from the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil attended to speak with participants, highlighting the importance of such initiative, their programs, and the partnership between the Consulate and the Peace and Freedom Organization.
The training is part of a broader series of capacity-building and coordination activities for journalists, university media school students, and social media influencers implemented by the Peace and Freedom Organization within the framework of the project "Countering AI-Generated Disinformation."
