Meeting Highlights

The meeting included in-depth discussions on the current landscape of civil society organizations in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, with a particular focus on the challenges and evolving conditions affecting humanitarian and development work at this stage.

In recognition of the strong collaboration and strategic partnership built over the past years, the IRC delegation presented a commemorative shield to the Peace and Freedom Organization, commending its effective and professional role in implementing joint projects.

In turn, the PFO team expressed their sincere appreciation for this gesture, highlighting the pivotal role played by the International Rescue Committee in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and acknowledging its significant contributions in delivering essential services and high-quality support to local communities and civil society organizations.

This meeting comes as the International Rescue Committee prepares to conclude its operations in Iraq by the end of May 2026, following a decision announced late last year.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the PFO team extended their best wishes to the IRC for continued success in its humanitarian mission worldwide, reaffirming the lasting impact of its work in Iraq.
