As part of the Cultural Heritage and Peaceful Coexistence in Ninewa Project, Peace and Freedom Organization organized a dialogue session in Bashiqa on 8 July 2026 entitled "Heritage of Resilience and Collective Memory and Their Role in Promoting Peaceful Coexistence." The event brought together elders, artisans, women, youth, community representatives, cultural initiatives, and civil society organizations.

The discussion highlighted the importance of collective memory in preserving shared experiences, as well as the role of intangible cultural heritage, traditional crafts, and local food heritage in safeguarding local identity and strengthening social cohesion. Participants also emphasized the vital role of young people in documenting this heritage and transforming it into community initiatives that promote dialogue, trust, and peaceful coexistence among Ninewa's diverse communities.

The session is part of a broader series of activities that promote cultural heritage as a foundation for peacebuilding, social cohesion, and preserving collective memory.
