
Choosing Peace and Freedom Organization from the best organizations working in Nineveh with advocacy campaigns
On September 11 - 12, 2020, the Advocacy Team Adviser for Peace and Freedom Organization participated in a training workshop on enhancing communication tools and partnership between civil society organizations and youth leaders within the "Participation" program to enhance youth participation in Iraq and support priority issues for youth in Nineveh.
On the first day for 15 minutes, a presentation from the Advocacy Team Adviser for Peace and Freedom Organization on how to draw strategic plans for advocacy campaigns, previous campaigns that the team worked on and success stories on the recommendations of the Second Amendment to Law 20 of 2009 amended, related to compensation for those affected by war, military and terrorist operations .
And also the success stories of the advocacy campaign on the issue of (opening a sub-committee to compensate the affected people in the Nineveh Plain) in the Bashiqa district and how to communicate and coordinate with government decision-makers, and there are appeals to the team about the intervention of many issues related to the defense campaigns.
In the presence of the governor of Nineveh and the head of the Coronavirus Crisis Cell, the Iraqi Solidarity Association and the Jud Organization, with funding from UNDEF / FNUD, selected the Peace and Freedom Organization from the best five organizations in Nineveh governorate working in the field of advocacy campaigns with government decision-makers, the legislative, executive and judicial authorities.
The target group in this workshop is young people of both sexes and according to the geographical area in Nineveh governorate and the various societal and age groups, and they are 20 activists. 4-5 initiatives will be identified and work on them, and then a strategic plan will be drawn up with advocacy campaigns.
Topics focused on policies and goals on issues of concern to society, including legislative laws, how to influence society, and stating the negative and positive reasons for each issue that is identified and analyzed by youth. The role of the five organizations will be as advice and support for young people on issues that work on advocacy.
