
The Peace and Freedom Organization, in the course of its work and activities, organized a roundtable discussion on Saturday, September 15, 2020 in Erbil for a number of trade union representatives, NGO, activists, activists and lawyers.
The Minister of Region for components Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) expressed his readiness to deliver the final report of this activity to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
The roundtable was organized as part of providing Workers' Rights Project, which is being implemented by the Peace and Freedom Organization in collaboration with the Norwegian People Aid (NPA)
In the roundtable a special report on minority workers in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region presented which has been prepared by the Peace and Freedom organization in 2019. Later, Aiden Maarouf, the regional minister for component affairs, evaluated the situation of the components in general in the region and evaluated such kind of work, He praised such actions as support for the rights of the components.
In a special panel, representatives of the Trade Unions and components presented their views on the situation of the minority workers and their comments on the report and the legal framework for addressing this situation. Then participants, in an open discussion, expressed their views, a decision was made to direct a report resulting from the discussion to the government officials in the Kurdistan Region.
