The camp was launched on September 22, 2020 and lasted for six days until September 26, 2020, and was held in the Swedish village - Shaqlawa, with the participation of 20 young men and women from all Iraqi provinces, and from different religions and nationalities.

 

Open the camp at the night of arriving by introduction among the participants and putting rules, and the second day the training session were on “Gender analyzing for conflict” and focus on gender as method to solve conflicts, For the evening session, a cinema was shown -movie  (The Help), which deals with the types of discrimination and racism between blacks and whites during the civil rights movement in 1962 and the discrimination between whites themselves on the basis of social class.

 

The training session for third day was on “discrimination and hatred speech” where it discusses the four levels of discrimination (social discrimination - legal discrimination - discrimination on social media - legislative discrimination). And this day ended by culture evening that the youth organized where each one present his\her province and wearing culture clothes represent their province and since the participants were from the 18 provinces, the clothes divers between the Arab - Kurdish - Syriac - Yazidi dress.  

 

Continue the camp in the next day on “digital security” and its important in social media and monitor feck news especially those that encourage hate speech. In the afternoon, the participants were taken on a climbing trip to the mountain, specifically to Raban Boya Cave, which is a shrine for the people of Shaqlawa. In the evening a concert was organized by the Mashkhat band who sang traditional songs related to the various components of Iraq and in the Arabic - Kurdish - Syriac languages. The camp ended by going back to Erbil and visit to Mar Gorgis Church in Ankawa and met with the priest.

 

This camp is the first gathering for the volunteer youth with in Musawat project which work in 18 governorates, and implanting by Musawat partners (Peace and Freedom Org.) (Moja Org.)
