who are we
Peace and Freedom Organization, a non-governmental, non-profit organization, administratively and financially independent, Established in 2013 and registered with the concerned authorities in the Department of NGOs. Head office in Erbil and works in multiple areas in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Working in the Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, to monitor and protect the human rights situations and ensure peaceful coexistence by promoting trust and cooperation among the various components of society.

 A peaceful, democratic and diverse society that guarantees human rights and fundamental freedoms for all. Promotes social justice, citizenship and non-violent values. And rejects extremism in all its forms.

     BAGRAOUND OF THE PROJECT:

Peace and Freedom Organisation (PFO) and Cordaid Organization work together in this specific project named Aswat Alshabat, youth voice. Our goal is to strengthen women voice and empower young women and men to play positive role through inclusive dialogue, and build capacity of youth and women and focusing on international resolution specifically on Women, peace, security, and youth, peace, security. In different targeted areas Baghdad, Erbil, Bassra, Nineveh, Duhok, and Kirkuk.

PFO has been working in mentioned areas for a long time through different interventions of programs. As the result of successful intervention, PFO designed this project to support different communities to have their voices to make positive changes in their home, town and city.

 

             MAIN TASK:

  • The Gender Officer will support PFO and implementing overall management (Aswat Alshabat) activities of the project.
  • Coordinate with staff project (Project Manager) to set monthly plan to involve gender activities in the plan.
  • Conducting regular Gender analysis one women situation in working areas.
  • Provide training and advance to the field staff about GBV core concept, Gender sensitive and how to engage women in peace building and social cohesion process.
  • She will contribute to ensuring successful functioning of the project activities.
  • Knowledge and understanding the national and regional Gender situation and conflict dynamic in Iraq.
  • Provide assessment and counselling at individual and group level as situation demands.
  • Strong networks in gender and peace work.
  • Strong inter-personal, negotiating, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with divers’ groups of stakeholders and local authorities.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage religious sensitive and situation.
  • Strong personal integrity and commitment to accountability.
  • Able to work independently and with team. Able to prioritize and self-motivation.
  • Represent PFO organization in meetings that relevant in Gender sensitive topic.

 

        REQUIERMENTS/ QULFICATIONS & PREFERED SKILLS

  • Degree in peace, Political Science & social work, Education or any relevant.
  • Minimum three years’ experience working in GBV program prevention, case worker and PSS.
  • Strong oral and written communication in Arabic, English, and Kurdish language is preferable.
  • Gender mainstream and the role of women in peace building and reconciliation or justice process.
  • Report written skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication with relevant computer skills.
  • Travel to the project areas.
  • Perform any other tasks required by PFO.
  • Gender officer should not have any political affiliation that effecting the independency of the project.
