    On 7/9/2024, in cooperation with the Nineveh Provincial Council, the Peace and Freedom Organization organized a conference entitled (Promoting Human Rights in Nineveh: Responsive and Effective Government Institutions), in the presence of a large number of members of the Nineveh Provincial Council and the Human Rights Commission, and the presence of the governorate office, and directors. Government departments in Nineveh, in addition to tribal sheikhs and community leaders.

    On July 6-8, 2024, Peace and Freedom Organization conducted a workshop in the presence of representatives from the Iraqi Prime Minister office, Engineer Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, alongside young men and women from all over Iraq. This workshop is part of the ongoing efforts of Peace and Freedom Organization to support and enhance the role of youth in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in peacebuilding and decision-making processes.

  • Return to Sinjar: The Yazidi Community’s Journey Home and the Challenges Ahead
    On January 23, 2024, the Council of Ministers of the Iraqi Government adopted a decision to close all internally displaced persons (hereafter referred to as IDP) camps in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (hereafter referred to as KRI) by July 31, 2024. According to the Government of Iraq (hereafter referred to as GoI), this decision is intended to encourage the safe and voluntary return of IDPs to their places of origin, as part of a broader policy to end displacement in Iraq, including the KRI.

    “Workers Rights and Freedom of Association” is a joint project run by PFOK and NPA in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The project, which has an implementation period of four years, began in July 2016. A number of researchers from PFOK have conducted a study of the project between July and December of 2016. By using a mixed methods approach, this study tries to reveal the workers’ conditions and the freedom of association and unions in a legal and social framework.
