  • Advocacy and awareness campaigns about workers' rights and freedom of work union
    Coinciding with the International Workers' Day, Peace and Freedom Organization supported a group of young workers in the governorates of Baghdad, Kirkuk and Diwaniyah to impliment advocacy campaigns aiming at raiseng awareness about the rights of workers and important merginalized groups of the working class, the campaigns included awareness sessions and visits to the governmental authorities with the aim of raising awareness and advocate for taking the necessary measures in order to guarantee workers' rights and freedom of syndication.

  • "Toward Iraqi National Action Plan to Implement Resolution 2250"
    On May 4, 2024, representatives from official entities, NGOs, and youth representatives in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, came together in Erbil to progress towards formulating an Iraqi national plan to implement Resolution 2250 within the Iraqi context. This involves leveraging existing governmental strategies and plans like the Development plan and population policy, Preventing violent extremism plan and Anti-hate speech plan.

  • The final conference of the project (the Journalist Boot Camp in the Iraqi Kurdistan region)
    On 3rd of May 2024, Peace and Freedom organization organized the final conference for the Journalist Boot Camp in Iraqi Kurdistan Region, with participation of Deputy Consul General Pamela Hack, in the event there were different panels on the success stores of the project and discussion about the situation of the journalists work in Kurdistan Region, this project is funded by US general consulate in Erbil with cooperation with Journalists Syndicate in Kurdistan and implemented by Peace and Freedom Organization, the project is targeted 20 journalists in each of Shekhan, Kirkuk and Halabja.

    In a step that reflects the active and proactive spirit of youth in building an interconnected and tolerant society, a group of young men and women in the Shikhan district implemented a series of awareness sessions in 6 local schools. This initiative comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts to promote the values of tolerance and mutual respect among different segments of society, especially between young people and students.

By using a mixed methods approach, this study tries to reveal the workers’ conditions and the freedom of association and unions in a legal and social framework.
