The Peace and Freedom Organization holds its regular meetingThe executive team of the Peace and Freedom Organization met today, Thursday, July 9, 2026, with the attendance of all staff members from the organization's offices in the following governorates and districts: (Erbil, Kirkuk, Nineveh, and Daquq).

Continuing Empowerment Efforts: New Sessions on Women's Social and Economic Empowerment in MosulPeace and Freedom Organization continues its series of specialized sessions on women's social and economic empowerment in Mosul, engaging 150 participants. These sessions in-depth discussions on promoting peace, women's participation in social affairs, and the importance of their role. The program also includes econamic topics such as entrepreneurship and income-generating opportunities, prioritizing and planning business projects, and attracting customers.

PFO Unites both (Peace and Natural Resources Management Committees) in Kirkuk Under the “Roots of Peace Team”Peace and Freedom Organization in Erbil Governorate held a comprehensive workshop that brought together members of the Peace Committee and the Natural Resources Management Committee in Kirkuk Governorate. This initiative aimed to unify efforts and enhance joint work between the two committees within a more effective and sustainable institutional framework.

PFO Participates in KOHRW Orientation Session on the Nabni ProjectToday, PFO proudly participated in the orientation session organized by KOHRW under the Nabni Project. The session provided a comprehensive update on the project's activities and progress achieved from 12 February 2026 through the end of June 2026.

Exchange visits between peaceful coexistence bodies and communities in Kirkuk and Shekhan, and a meeting with the Minister of Endowments in the KRIAs part of the JISRA project, which aims to promote the values of peaceful and religious coexistence among communities in Kirkuk and its surrounding areas, the Peace and Freedom Organization implemented a series of activities on May 30 and 31, including a private meeting with Dr. Pshtiwan Sadiq, Minister of Endowments in the Kurdistan Regional Government, with the aim of building a sustainable partnership and promoting social dialogue. Capacity Building in Journalistic Writing on Women's Issues in NinevehIn partnership with Women for Women International, Peace and Freedom Organization successfully organized a two-day training in Mosul. The training brought together 12 women, including media professionals, journalists, activists, and young graduates from media departments.

Return to Sinjar: The Yazidi Community’s Journey Home and the Challenges AheadOn January 23, 2024, the Council of Ministers of the Iraqi Government adopted a decision to close all internally displaced persons (hereafter referred to as IDP) camps in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (hereafter referred to as KRI) by July 31, 2024. According to the Government of Iraq (hereafter referred to as GoI), this decision is intended to encourage the safe and voluntary return of IDPs to their places of origin, as part of a broader policy to end displacement in Iraq, including the KRI.

Report on the Condition of Workers in Iraq and the Kurdistan RegionOn a yearly basis, International Standard of Rights Reports, which evaluates the condition of the rights of workers, is conducted by the International syndicate Union for Workers. The 2023 Report highlights the challenges and violations faced by workers globally.

The Condition of Workers’ Rights and Freedom of Tade In Kurdistan Region and Iraq“Workers Rights and Freedom of Association” is a joint project run by PFOK and NPA in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The project, which has an implementation period of four years, began in July 2016. A number of researchers from PFOK have conducted a study of the project between July and December of 2016. By using a mixed methods approach, this study tries to reveal the workers’ conditions and the freedom of association and unions in a legal and social framework.
